Report: Hoffenheim set sights on budding Austrian talent Braunöder

Germany's main sporting tabloid reports that TSG 1899 Hoffenheim are actively angling for their third new acquisition for the 2022/23 season.
After singing former player Grsicha Prömel away from 1. FC Union Berlin and picking up FC. St. Pauli midfielder Finn Ole Becker, Germany's Kraichgauer apparently have their third transfer target within their sights. Sport Bild reports that Hoffenheim wish to ply Matthias Braunöder away from FK Austria Wien.

The 20-year-old midfielder is considered a very promising up-and-coming talent. Braunöder was recently named Young Star of the Year by Austrian newspaper Krone. He has scored once and chipped in five assists this year for his club team and recorded five tallies for country at various youth levels.

Currently tied to Wien through the end of the 2022/23 campaign, the German tabloid also reports that Braunöder's club possesses a unilateral contract extension option. This means that the Bundesliga club would have to plunk down a significant transfer sum in order to acquire him.

An offer in the single-digit millions of Euros would naturally present no real problems for the wealthy Baden-Württemberg club. For the time being, Sport Bild nevertheless reports that the Sinsheimers have merely made initial contact to express interest.
