Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp has backed Sadio Mané to follow in Robert Lewandowski's footsteps at Bayern München.

Mané left Klopp and Liverpool to join Bayern in a €45 million move, paving the way for Lewandowski to depart the German champions for FC Barcelona.

Having scored 344 goals in 375 games for Bayern, Lewandowski is obviously a difficult player to replace, but Klopp believes that if anyone can fill his big shoes, it's Mané.

"Losing Lewandowski is nothing to celebrate, but if there's anything who can follow in his footsteps - without wanting to put pressure on him to score 40 goals - then it's surely Sadio. That's for sure, and he can do it together with the others," Klopp said in an interview with Bundesliga.com.

"Julian [Nagelsmann] is a highly talented coach, so he'll have some thoughts there as well. They have got a world-class player. Period."

Mané has scored in each of his two competitive appearances for Bayern so far. If you want to back him to be the Bundesliga's top goalscorer, you can open your account to play here.
