Hoeness on Bayern newcomer Alphonso Davies: 'He'll be a bomb'

Bayern München have huge expectations for Alphonso Davies who's now eligible to play for the club.
Bayern München have made one January signing so far in the form of 18-year-old Alphonso Davies who has joined the German champions from Vancouver Whitecaps.

The young Canadian winger has been training with his new teammates since November and are now eligible to play for the club - and Bayern München president Uli Hoeness is expecting great things from him.

"I've never seen him play. But he'll be a bomb, I've heard. I trust my sporting director," Hoeness told Sport Bild.

Meanwhile, Bayern München sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic, who was primarily responsible for the signing of Davies, believes it's important to give the youngster the time he needs to establish himself in Germany.

"Basically, he's a great talent. Alphonso is a great kid and a great character. He's hungry and wants to show what he can do. We'll take care of Alphonso and be careful not to create any hype around him. It's very important that he'll establish himself in peace and get used to the Bundesliga. If we give him enough time, he has a lot of potential to do a great job here," Salihamidzic said.

Davies has made nine appearances for the Canadian national team, scoring three goals.
