Gündogan: 'The Premier League is well ahead of the Bundesliga'

Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gündogan believes the level in England is higher than in Germany.
In 2016, Ilkay Gündogan left Borussia Dortmund to join Manchester City. And, having played in both England and Germany, the 28-year-old says he believes the level in the Premier League is higher than in the Bundesliga.

"For me, the Premier League is well ahead of the Bundesliga. I still watch the Bundesliga a lot. At the top, it may be on a similar level, but we're only talking about Bayern and Dortmund in Germany. In England, there are Liverpool, Manchester United, Chelsea, Tottenham, Arsenal and us. That's the main difference," Gündogan said in an interview with Sport Bild.

Gündogan will travel to Germany next week when Manchester City face Schalke 04 in Gelsenkirchen next Wednesday.

The German international has made 31 appearances for City this season with five goals and seven assists to his name.
