Jaw surgery to sideline Stuttgart's Rouault for several weeks

One day after his permanent signing was confirmed, VfB Stuttgart defender Anthony Rouault is now set to be sidelined for four to six weeks following major facial surgery.
French defender Anthony Rouault - signed on a permanent basis by VfB Stuttgart just yesterday - will now be sidelined for 4-6 weeks after undergoing a surgical procedure to fix a broken jaw. The 22-year-old has already been wearing a protective mask due to a nasal bone injury suffered some weeks back. A collision with Union Berlin wingback Robin Gosens in the 25th minute of his side's 2-0 win last night left him unable to come out and play the second half.

Rouault became a regular starter for Sebastian Hoeneß' Swabians once it was confirmed that central defender Dan-Axel Zagadou would be lost for the season with an ACL tear. Captain Waldemar Anton - himself troubled by thigh problems as of late - was able to come on for Rouault and play the second half last night. Japanese international Hiroki Ito and Greek center back Leonidas Stergiou presently give Hoeneß three options in central defense.
