Boateng could imagine staying at Bayern

Jerome Boateng wants to stay and fight for his place at Bayern München.
Jerome Boateng says he can imagine staying at Bayern München despite being advised to find a new employer by club president Uli Hoeness.

The 30-year-old has slipped down the pecking order at Allianz Arena this season, and competition for places in central defence will increase further with the summer arrivals of Lucas Hernandez and Benjamin Pavard.

Nevertheless, Boateng is keen on staying at Allianz Arena.

"I will definitely not run away from here. Situations change quickly. I can clearly imagine continuing at FC Bayern," Boateng told Kicker.

Boateng was heavily linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain last summer, but much to his disappointment, the deal ultimately collapsed.

"In my head, I was already away. When you get such a clear promise and a suitable fee is paid, but you then get a no, something breaks down inside you," Boateng said.

The 30-year-old made 28 appearances for Bayern in the 2018/19 season.
