Kaan Ayhan on Fortuna Düsseldorf's 2-2 draw with RB Leipzig: 'This feels like a win'

Kaan Ayhan was delighted that Fortuna Düsseldorf came back to clinch a draw against RB Leipzig.
Fortuna Düsseldorf defender Kaan Ayhan said his side's 2-2 draw with RB Leipzig on Wednesday felt like a win.

'Die Flingeraner' came back from being two goals down to salvage an important point in their bid to avoid relegation thanks to late goals from Steven Skrzybski and André Hoffmann.

"It's just another draw, but this feels like a win. We showed morale and should be very proud. Very few people expected us to get a point here," Ayhan told DPA after the game.

RB Leipzig's Marcel Halstenberg was disappointed to concede two late goals.

"We conceded two easy goals late on. I was involved in one. We need to control the game better at 2-0 up, and even go for a third. Nobody is happy with the situation," he said.

The result means that Fortuna Düsseldorf stay in the relegation playoff spot, five points behind 15th-placed Mainz and one point clear of Werder Bremen in 17th place.

RB Leipzig, who are still without a home win since the league's return, sit third.
