Schalke linked with Korb and Weiser as they search for a new right-back

Schalke 04 have reportedly targeted free agent Julian Korb and Bayer Leverkusen's Mitchell Weiser in their search for a new right-back.
After signing left-back Sead Kolasinac on loan from Arsenal, Schalke 04 are now looking to strengthen the right side of their defence, according to reports.

Bild claims 28-year-old Julian Korb has been identified as a possible option. The former Gladbach player has been a free agent since he left Hannover 96 last summer.

According to Fussballtransfers, Bayer Leverkusen's Mitchell Weiser is another name on Schalke's list. The 26-year-old has been limited to just five appearances for 'Die Werkself' this season.

Schalke are without a win in their last 30 Bundesliga games and sit rock bottom of the league with just four points after 14 games this season.

After suffering a painful 3-0 defeat to Hertha BSC in his first game in charge last week, head coach Christian Gross acknowledged the need for new signings, but also said he's aware that the club's financial struggles is making the recruitment process very difficult.

"[Schalke head of sport] Jochen Schneider is trying to do the impossible. I very much hope that we succeed in signing a few players with personality, who don't need to be developed first," said Gross.
