Official: Rabbi Matondo to Stoke City on six-month-loan

Schalke and Stoke City officially confirmed Welsh attacker Rabbi Matondo's six-month loan on Thursday.
After four days of complications, the loan deal sending 20-year-old Rabbi Matondo to the EFL Championship is complete.

Multiple media sources reporting on the stalled deal reported that the swap stalled because of a contractual clause that entitled Matondo's former club Manchester City to make a matching offer in the event of the winger's departure from Gelsenkirchen.

Neither club released details about a potential purchase clause at the end of the season. Germany's Bild Zeitung recently suggested that there may be one in the neighborhood of €6 million.

Matondo moved from City to the Bundesliga in January 2019 for €9 million. He's scored two goals in 32 appearances over the past two years.
