Sport Bild report: Sandro Wagner earns first trainer job

Germany's Sport Bild reports that 33-year-old former Bundesliga striker Sandro Wagner is set to begin his coaching career in the Munich suburbs.
When the COVID crisis forced former Bayern striker Sandro Wagner to prematurely end his playing career after a short stint with Tianjin Tigers F.C., many wondered how the often outspoken and always confident veteran attacker would continue to remain involved in football.

After some brief advisory work with former club FC Bayern München and a short gig as a specialist coach with the DFB youth ranks, it appears as if Wagner is already on his way to his first head-coaching position.

Germany's "Bild-Zeitung" reports that the scorer of sixty goals during a twelve-year Bundesliga career is set to take the reins of the U19s at third-tier SpVgg Unterhaching; a club whom most remember as one of the more improbable clubs ever to make it to the top footballing division during a two-year-stint between 1999 and 2001.

Wagner's recent work as a color commentator and analyst for German streaming service DAZN has left many impressed with his knowledgeable insights into the game. SportBild reports that the appointment will be announced as soon as Wagner completes his licensing course in a few weeks.

Though Wagner was only capped eight times for the German national team, he scored five goals during qualifiers for Jogi Löw's Nationalmannschaft.
