Sensational Silva trumps Hölzenbein's 45-year-old Bundesliga record for Frankfurt

In the process of the loss that proves to be a huge blow to Frankfurt’s Champions League hopes next season, star striker André Silva made history for the West Germans.
Schalke snatched an unlikely victory against top four hopefuls Eintracht Frankfurt in an exciting encounter that saw the hosts record a 4-3 drubbing, where André Silva scored a brace to save some skin for the visitors.

Silva, who joined from Milan after a one-season stint at Sevilla, was turned into a permanent transfer after his on-loan 2019/20 season. The 2020/21 season has seen him surpass expectations.

He has undertaken an unprecedented goalscoring form for Die Adler this season.

By scoring a brace against Schalke, Silva has surpassed Frankfurt’s Bundesliga record set by legendary striker Bernd Hölzenbein of 26 goals during the 1976/77 season – a historic 45-year-old feat set by the club’s all-time goalscorer.

The Portuguese marksman has 27 goals, with one match left to play.

He also has 5 assists to his name in 31 appearances in the league.

Silva has recorded a goal conversion rate of 29% with 93 total shots on goal - of which 27 have turned in.

He has scored a goal every 99 minutes this season in the league.
