Borussia Dortmund were forced to field a second-string defence for Friday's 2-3 Bundesliga defeat to Bayer Leverkusen due to an illness outbreak in the squad.
Emre Can, Nico Schlotterbeck, Waldemar Anton, Ramy Bensebaini, Filippo Mané and Alexander Meyer all missed the game and are battling to be fit for Tuesday's trip to Holstein Kiel.
"They are feeling better, but we don't know yet if they can play," Borussia Dortmund head coach Nuri Sahin told a press conference on Monday.
“We'll train this afternoon and then we'll have to see.”
As if those question marks weren't enough for Dortmund, Sahin may have to do without three of his attacking options.
The BVB coach said there's a "big question mark" over Karim Adeyemi, who is also ill, while Jamie Gittens has "slight problems".
Meanwhile, Donyell Malen could be left out of the squad amid negotiations with Aston Villa, with Sahin revealing that "there is movement" in the talks over a January move for the Dutchman.
Pascal Gross (suspension) and Niklas Süle (syndesmotic ligament tear) will definitely miss the game.
