Borussia Dortmund's Bundesliga struggles continued on Saturday as Niko Kovac's side lost 2-0 at RB Leipzig.

The defeat leaves them in 11th place, seven points behind Eintracht Frankfurt in the fourth Champions League qualifying spot, with the Eagles having a game in hand.

Speaking to Sky Germany after the game, Dortmund centre-back Nico Schlotterbeck admitted that BVB's chances of qualifying for Europe's top club competition are dwindling.

“It's almost impossible. We still have the top teams ahead of us. Of course, the chances are very slim. It will be brutally difficult,” said Schlotterbeck.

The centre-back believes that a clear head is needed to get back on track - and he thinks the upcoming international break could help.

“Now we won't see each other as a team for a week or a week-and-a-half - maybe that will do us some good. To get away from Dortmund for a while," said Schlotterbeck.

"Then we'll come back after the international break and have to get some points. There are still three or four important weeks to come - we need to go on the attack.”
