Sport Bild Report: Liverpool raise asking price for van den Berg

Germany's main sporting tabloid is currently reporting that Liverpool FC - amid interest from half a dozen Bundesliga clubs - are holding firm in their demands for Dutch central defender Sepp van Berg.

After a successful loan stint with FSV Mainz 05 last season, Liverpool Sepp van den Berg has been linked with no less than six Bundesliga clubs. After rejecting interest from Mainz and Wolfsburg, the Reds have now - per Germany's main sporting tabloid - put their foot down amid interest from Hoffenheim, Stuttgart, Gladbach, and even Leverkusen. Liverpool want twice the defender's estimated market worth.

According to "Sport Bild", the Merseyside club have been impressed with the 22-year-old's performances in training camp and will not entertain any offers below €24 million. Mainz have been trying to organize a renewed loan-out, but chances of this remain slim given the fact that van den Berg has proven himself to be useful to the EPL side in the coming season.
