Sport Bild Report: Stuttgart's Diehl suffers dislocated shoulder
Germany's main sporting tabloid reports that the 19-year-old dislocated his shoulder and will be out long term.
New VfB Stuttgart summer signing Justin Diehl had to be subbed off early in a Saturday VfB II fixture in the 3. Liga against FC Ingolstadt. The shoulder injury appeared rather severe. Germany's "Sport Bild" tabloid reports that the teenage talent has suffered a dislocated shoulder and will be sidelined long-term. After being promoted to the Köln senior team last winter, Diehl made nine top flight appearances for Timo Schultz's Geißböcke.
The highly touted teenage talent joined Stuttgart on a free transfer from 1. FC Köln during the offseason. Though VfB trainer Sebastian Hoeneß did not select Diehl for his UEFA Champions' League roster, the Köln native did make three of Hoeneß' match-day squads thus far this year. He logged minutes as a sub in both the opening Bundesliga and Pokal fixtures.
Diehl recently started two matches for the Germany U20s over the most recent international break. He was sent to the Stuttgart reserves to accrue more playing practice and confidence in the German third division. His VfB II debut lasted only eight minutes after a foul from Ingolstadt's Ryan Malone in the 3rd led him to hit the deck hard.
