Bayern Munich have been rocked by an injury blow just days before the start of the new Bundesliga season.
The Bavarians confirmed on Tuesday that Josip Stanisic will be sidelined for several weeks after tearing a collateral ligament in his knee during training.
“Josip had surgery this morning. Unfortunately, he’ll be out for the coming weeks. We wish him a speedy recovery," said FC Bayern board member for sport Max Eberl.
Before the injury, Stanisic looked set to start at right-back against Wolfsburg on Sunday.
Sasha Boey is now likely to come in, with Konrad Laimer and youngster Adam Aznou also in contention.
