Bayer 04 Leverkusen's one-time "keeper of the future" has moved to Denmark on a permanent basis. Copenhagen's Brøndby IF confirmed Austrian international Patrick Pentz's permanent capture on Monday afternoon. Germany's red company team - following the signing of Matej Kovar - loaned the 27-year-old out to Danish outfit this past autumn. The amount paid to Leverkusen remains uncertain. Pentz maintains a €3 million estimated market worth.

Pentz made 30 appearances for Brøndby across all competitions, keeping 11 clean sheets. Pentz's form leaves him the projected Austrian national team #1 ahead of the coming European Championships. Kovar, meanwhile, firmly established himself as Leverkusen trainer Xabi Alonso's regular net-minder in both the DFB Pokal and Europa League. The move thus made a great deal of sense for both sides.

"He's the best goalkeeper in the Superliga in my eyes," Brøndby club director Carsten V. Jensen noted in a statement released by the Danish capital city side, "Patrick Pentz played a key role in our good results last season - and won the hearts of both fans and players with his positive and professional attitude."

“Patrick has had a very successful year and ultimately got exactly what he had hoped for at Brøndby," B04 managing director-of-sport Simon Rolfes added in Leverkusen's confirmation statement, "[He got] a lot of playing time and a place in the Austrian national team for the European Championship."
