RB Leipzig head coach Martín Demichelis said he is looking forward to facing his former club Bayern Munich on Saturday evening.

“I lived in Munich for many years and represented FC Bayern both as a player and a coach," he said in today's press conference.

"Returning to the Allianz Arena now with RB Leipzig is something special for me. I’m looking forward to seeing some familiar faces again.

"And above all to the match itself. Because, whilst I have the utmost respect for FC Bayern, I naturally want RB Leipzig to come out on top.

“FC Bayern shaped me over a total of 12 years as a player and later as a coach – and as a person too,” the Argentine added.

Regarding the game plan, Demichelis stated he's “not a fan of defending 90 minutes in front of our own goal” against the Bavarian giants.

"There's no guarantee that you'll pick up a point that way – and that's not our goal for the entire season anyway.

"I can't tell the lads: We're heading to Munich, defend behind the halfway line and hoof the ball up the pitch and see what happens," he said.

On the personnel front, the Saxony-based outfit continue to miss two key players as well as summer signing Marc Guiu.

"Christoph #Baumgartner is continuing to be gradually reintegrated into team training. Marc Guiu remains out due to his muscle injury.

“Assan Ouédraogo will continue to be sidelined indefinitely following his capsule injury in his right shoulder,” Demichelis wrapped up.
