TSG Hoffenheim have announced a contract extension for striker Max Moerstedt.

The Bundesliga club has not revealed the exact length of the 19-year-old’s new deal, only confirming that it has been extended on a long-term basis.

"Max is another example of the successful pathway of our academy in Hoffenheim" said Hoffenheim managing director for sport Andreas Schicker.

"Despite his young age, he already brings international experience at the highest youth level, as well as in the Bundesliga and Europa League. He recommended himself for greater responsibilities early on, has been carefully introduced to professional football, and has made the most of his opportunities. We are convinced that Max still has tremendous potential and are delighted that he will continue to strengthen our squad in the long term."

Moerstedt, who has scored three goals in 32 appearances for Hoffenheim so far, said:

"I greatly appreciate the trust the club has placed in me. TSG offers the ideal environment to continue developing both on and off the pitch. Despite interest from other clubs, it quickly became clear that I want to continue my journey here. I’m excited to keep establishing myself at the professional level and contribute to the team’s success."
