Hradecky apologies to fans for "ugly win"

Leverkusen head-coach Gerardo Seoane had no problem with his switch to a more defensive posture after falling a man down in Stuttgart.

B04 #1 and captain Lukas Hradecky nevertheless offered up a mea culpa to club supporters.
When Robert Andrich found himself sent off on a straight red in the 32nd minute against Stuttgart on Sunday, Germany's red company team had 54 minutes of game time to protect a 2-0 lead. The hosting Swabians even pulled a goal back before the first half was over. It was such that head-coach Gerardo Seoane felt the need to remove striker Patrik Schick in the 51st and replace him with defender Piero Hincapie.

"The switch to a five-man backline worked very well," Seoane said in his post-match-interview, "That was a key decision. We racked up a lot of distance in midfield and always got behind the ball."

Seoane went on to praise Florian Wirtz one Moussa Diaby for their offensive work in getting another goal. Whereas Leverkusen's head-coach was full of praise for his team's performance, the squad captain saw it differently.

"I'm sorry for this way we played in the second half," Hradecky told German broadcaster DAZN afterwards, "Andrich's red card made it more difficult. When you have one man less, you have to play like that. It was an ugly win. Still, whether pretty ugly, the three points remain the same."
