Flick explains Cologne trip

Hansi Flick has explained why he chose to go to Cologne to watch FC Köln and RB Leipzig last week.
Germany coach Hansi Flick was in the stadium as FC Köln and RB Leipzig drew 1-1 in the Bundesliga last Saturday.

With RB Leipzig defender Lukas Klostermann the only current German international who appeared in that game, Flick also took a look at a handful of players from FC Köln.

"We are trying to make sure we are seen everywhere. We want to take a look at as many German players as possible, who are interesting for us," said Flick.

"Jonas [Hector] has made a very good impression in recent weeks, and I know that he is very highly regarded in Cologne because of his mentality and style of play. But at the moment, he's not a topic for me.

"Timo Horn had a good game, but we are perfectly positioned hen it comes to goalkeepers. Jan Thielmann showed good pace, but also made a few careless mistakes," said the Germany coach.
