Report: Dortmund reignite interest in Gladbach midfielder

Gladbach midfielder Denis Zakaria is once again being linked with a switch to Borussia Dortmund.
Borussia Dortmund have reignited their interest in signing Denis Zakaria from Borussia Mönchengladbach, according to Sport Bild.

Dortmund have been linked with the Swiss international in the past, and former Gladbach coach Marco Rose is now said to be keen on bringing him to Signal Iduna Park this summer.

Zakaria, who is out of contract this summer, was expected to leave Gladbach during the summer transfer window, but a transfer didn't materialize.

The defensive midfielder recently confirmed that he has held contract talks with 'Die Fohlen', but it remains to be seen whether he will agree to a new deal or depart the club.

"We have already talked to [Gladbach sporting director] Max Eberl. The situation with my former agent was a bit complicated. I didn't say I definitely wanted to go," Zakaria told Rheinische Post, reflecting on the summer transfer window.

"I have always said that I feel good in Gladbach. We'll have more talks, I can’t say more about it yet."
