Nagelsmann counting on Hernandez despite legal troubles

Julian Nagelsmann has backed Lucas Hernandez to feature in Bayern München's upcoming two games despite the defender's legal troubles.
Bayern München coach Julian Nagelsmann has made it clear that Lucas Hernandez remains part of his plans for the next two games against Bayer Leverkusen and Benfica.

Hernandez has appealed against a six-month prison term for violating a restraining order in 2017, and Bayern president Herbert Hainer confirmed on Thursday that the left-back will travel to Madrid to appear in court next week.

But despite the issues surrounding Hernandez's personal life at the moment, Nagelsmann is counting on him.

"He's the same as he always is. He trained well and he's part of my plans for the next two games. If he's healthy, then he will also play both games," said the Bayern coach at a press conference on Friday.

Bayern face Leverkusen in the Bundesliga on Sunday before travelling to Portugal for an away game against Benfica in the Champions League on Wednesday.
