Nagelsmann provides injury update on Goretzka

Leon Goretzka is a doubt for Bayern München's upcoming game against Union Berlin after he took a knock on his ankle against Gladbach in mid-week.
Bayern München coach Julian Nagelsmann has provided an injury update on Leon Goretzka after the midfielder picked up a knock in Wednesday's 5-0 DFB-Pokal defeat to Gladbach.

"Leon took a knock on the ankle. We have to wait and see how he reacts in training. We don't know yet if he's going to be part of the team," Nagelsmann told reporters ahead of Sunday's Bundesliga game against Union Berlin.

"He has pain and swelling, but it's much improved compared to Wednesday, so I assume that he can play. But we really have to decide after training today," added the Bayern coach, who was once again speaking over a video call as he remains in isolation due to COVID-19.

Nagelsmann will not be present for Sunday's game, but is expecting to be back on the touchline in the Champions League against Benfica next week.

"I'm hoping I can be back on Tuesday. If everything is normal, that will be the end of my 14-day quarantine," he said.
