Martinez and Lewandowski earn Bayern win in Athens

Bayern München lived up to the favourites tag in Athens and took a 2-0 win against AEK.
Javi Martinez and Robert Lewandowski secured Bayern München three points in Athens as the Bavarians took a 2-0 win over AEK.

Bayern München coach Niko Kovac made one change to the team that beat Wolfsburg 3-1 on Saturday with Rafinha replacing David Alaba at left-back.

The German guests were dominant in the first half and had a lot of possession, but struggled with the final pass or finish.

It always seemed like Niko Kovac's troops would break the deadlock sooner or later, though, and they did after 61 minutes as Javi Martinez made it 1-0 with an acrobatic finish.

Just a few minutes later, Robert Lewandowski added to the lead. After some clever combination play, Rafinha squared the ball across to the Polish international who easily made it 2-0 in an unmarked position.

With the win, Bayern take the first place in Group E, three points ahead of Ajax before the Dutch capital club's game against Benfica tonight.
