Report: Hoffenheim edge closer to appointing Weinzierl as new head coach
Markus Weinzierl has emerged as the clear favorite to replace Sebastian Hoeness as Hoffenheim.
It only seems to be a matter of time before Markus Weinzierl will be appointed new Hoffenheim coach, according to Rhein-Neckar-Zeitung.
Per the local media outlet, Weinzierl visited the club's training ground on Wednesday, with a deal between him and the club close to being agreed.
Sebastian Hoeness left his role as Hoffenheim coach after finishing ninth in the Bundesliga following a winless run of nine games.
Coming off his second stint as Augsburg coach, Weinzierl is a free agent after declaring that he would not be extending his stay at WWK-Arena.
UPDATE: Hoffenheim's Head of Media & PR, Holger Kliem, has denied the report. Read more here.
