Hoffenheim play down Weinzierl links
Reports that Markus Weinzierl is close to becoming new Hoffenheim coach after visiting the club's training ground are not true, according to the Bundesliga outfit.
Hoffenheim have played down a report from Rhein-Neckar-Zeitung suggesting that Markus Weinzierl is on the verge of being appointed the club's new head coach.
Rhein-Neckar-Zeitung reported that Weinzierl had visited Hoffenheim's training ground on Wednesday, but this is not true, according to the Bundesliga outfit's Head of Media & PR, Holger Kliem.
"This message is untrue. There is currently no contact with Markus Weinzierl, and he didn't visit TSG. It doesn't become more true when everyone writes it off without asking," stated Kliem.
Hoffenheim are looking for a new head coach after parting ways with Sebastian Hoeness following the end of the 2021/22 campaign.
