RB Leipzig prepared to spend big in January

RB Leipzig expect a busy January transfer window. We take a look at their transfer targets here.
After a summer transfer window that didn't work out as RB Leipzig had planned, 'Die Roten Bullen' expect to be busy in January.

"We have a small, fine squad. In the summer, we wanted to realize quite a few transfers that didn't work out. We had to accept that and were aware of the situation," RB Leipzig CEO Oliver Mintzlaff told Sport Bild and continued:

"In the winter, we will make up for that and definitely strengthen ourselves. We're ready to act."

Reportedly, RB Leipzig are ready to spend as much as €35 million in January. A few days ago, the club announced that the 19-year-old midfielder Tyler Adams will join the club from New York Red Bulls - allegedly on a free transfer. Meanwhile, Red Bull Salzburg's Amadou Haidara is set to move to Leipzig for €15 million.

Additionally, RB Leipzig remain interested in Everton's Ademola Lookman who spent the second half of the 2017/18 season on loan at 'Die Roten Bullen'. According to Sport Bild, the 21-year-old should cost around €20 million.

The former Bayer Leverkusen player Hakan Calhanoglu, who is set to leave AC Milan in January, has also been linked with RB Leipzig while the Bundesliga club are also said to be keeping an eye on Benfica striker Umaro Embalo and Bournemouth midfielder Lewis Cook.
