Musiala leads voting after latest round of "Golden Boy" cuts

Italy's Tuttosport has whittled down the list of candidates for the 2022 "Golden Boy" award, honoring the best U21 player in Europe, to 20 candidates.

Six Bundesliga professionals are still alive. German phenom Jamal Musiala led the latest round of voting with a whopping 30 percent of Tuutsport's vote.

The latest round of cuts for "Tuttosport"'s "Golden Boy" award were released on Friday. Last month's list of candidates eligible to be honored as Europe's best young player has been slashed from 40 to 20. The number of Bundesliga players eligible for the award has shrunk from 11 to 6. Two Germans (Jamal Musiala and Karim Adeyemi) are still in the running.

Musiala's chances of winning seem to be quite good. Nearly a third of fans involved in the latest round of voting gave their endorsement to the FCB and German national team phenom. The final round of voting nevertheless will include journalists from all across Europe.
