Schalke and Heidel to part company after the season?

Apparently, it's possible that Schalke 04 and sporting director Christian Heidel could go separate ways after this season.
Christian Heidel's tenure as sporting director of Schalke 04 could be brought to an end after this season, Kicker reports.

The 55-year-old is under contract until 2020, and the German news outlet claims that it's looking increasingly unlikely that his deal with 'The Royal Blues' will be extended.

According to Kicker, there's even a possibility that the parties could go separate ways this summer already.

Schalke have been disappointing this term despite spending more than €50 million on new players in the summer following last season's impressive second-place finish.

Most of Heidel's summer signings, such as Sebastian Rudy (€16 million) and Omar Mascarell (€10 million), haven't made the desired impact since joining 'The Royal Blues'.

Schalke are sitting 14th in the Bundesliga table ahead of this weekend's matchday.
