Marco Rose: Leipzig "very optimistic" of extending Xavi Simons' loan spell

RB Leipzig are "very optimistic" of extending Xavi Simons' loan spell beyond the end of the season, says head coach Marco Rose.
Xavi Simons has been a key player for Leipzig since joining on loan from Paris Saint-Germain last summer, scoring eight goals and laying on 12 assists in 35 appearances, and head coach Marco Rose is optimistic he'll stay for another season.

"He enjoys the way we play football, with the boys, in the city. It feels good for him and for us at the moment," Rose told Sky Germany after Saturday's 2-0 win over Darmstadt.

"I think Xavi is a smart guy who has a clear plan for his career. He knows when to take the next step. I think we're a good fit for him at the moment," he added.

"Xavi is very well advised by his family, he feels very comfortable here. We are very optimistic."

Simons' contract with PSG expires in 2027.
