Sport Bild Report: Neuer's injury leaves keeper a doubt versus Dortmund
Germany's main sporting tabloid reports that the injury that forced FC Bayern München keeper Manuel Neuer to depart DFB camp places his availability against Borussia Dortmund in a forthcoming league fixture in serious doubt.
Germany's "Sport Bild" tabloid reports that the left adductor muscle injury that forced Manuel Neuer to depart DFB camp yesterday is actually a slight tear that will probably sideline the Bayern München #1 for at least two weeks. Neuer returned to the Säbener Straße for additional examinations, during which - per the tabloid - the tear was discovered.
Neuer's Bayern face Borussia Dortmund in the Saturday evening "Top-Spiel" once league play resumes after the current international break. It looks to be the case that back-up Sven Ulreich will start between the sticks for the German record champions. Neuer has started 18 league fixtures for his club since returning from injury last October.
Ulreich handled the first eight rounds of the season, keeping three clean sheets in the process. Neuer has kept six clean sheets this year. It has been rumored that - despite to Neuer's age, declining form, and issues with injury - Bundestrainer Julian Nagelsmann has already opted to stick with him as the Nationalmannschaft's current #1.
