Dieter Hecking has reportedly emerged as the main candidate to take over the position as Schalke coach at the end of the season.
Hecking is looking for a new challenge after it was announced earlier this month that he will leave his position as Gladbach coach in the summer with Red Bull Salzburg coach Marco Rose taking over the job.
Schalke have been looking for a new coach, who can take the reins ahead of the 2019/20 season, after Domenico Tedesco was sacked in March. Huub Stevens has been given the responsibility on an interim basis for the rest of the season.
As per Kicker, Schalke are looking for an experienced coach who can stabilize the club following their disappointing 2018/19 campaign. Another candidate for the job is Bruno Labbadia who will part company with Wolfsburg at the end of the season.
