Pavard: 'I'm one of the best defenders in the Bundesliga'

Benjamin Pavard says Bayern München have signed him, because he's one of the best defenders in the Bundesliga.
VfB Stuttgart star Benjamin Pavard has defended himself towards the criticism he has been exposed to this season.

The 23-year-old has often been criticized during Stuttgart's disappointing season - particularly in his homeland, France - but he remains confident in his own abilities.

After all, the French World Cup winner argues, there is a reason Bayern München have paid €35 million to sign him this summer.

"They have signed me, because I'm one of the best defenders in the Bundesliga. You can't say no to Bayern. I have a hunger for titles after winning the World Cup," Pavard told Canal+.

"When we lose, I often read that I'm to blame. Okay, if that makes you happy...

"It's true that I've made some mistakes. I'm the first to admit that. But the team has failed, not just me," the 23-year-old said.

VfB Stuttgart are 16th in the Bundesliga with four games left to play this season.
