Bayern boss advises Jerome Boateng to leave the club

Bayern München president Uli Hoeness has recommended Jerome Boateng to find a new club this summer.
Jerome Boateng has been advised to leave Bayern München this summer by club president Uli Hoeness.

"As a friend, I would recommend him to leave the club. He needs a new challenge. He seems like a foreign body," Hoeness said in an interview with Sky.

Boateng has slipped down the pecking order this season and sat on the bench when Bayern secured the Bundesliga title and the DFB-Pokal trophy against Eintracht Frankfurt and RB Leipzig respectively.

After the final whistle of both games, Boateng went straight down the tunnel instead of celebrating with his teammates.

Boateng recently admitted that he isn't too pleased with his situation at Bayern.

"I believe it hasn't been an optimal season for both sides," he said and added that he would have liked to play more in the important games.

The centre-back made 28 appearances for Bayern in the 2018/19 season. His contract runs until 2021.
