Max Eberl: Gladbach's wallet is a little too empty to sign Malang Sarr

Max Eberl reveals Gladbach may not have enough money to sign Malang Sarr from OGC Nice.
Borussia Mönchengladbach sporting director Max Eberl has previously confirmed that he's working on signing Malang Sarr from OGC Nice.

In Marcus Thuram, Gladbach have already signed one player from France this summer, but 'Die Fohlen' are yet to get the Sarr deal over the line.

When asked about Sarr by Express.de, Eberl now reveals that the 20-year-old, who has reportedly been priced at €20 million by Nice, may be too expensive for the club.

"We know exactly what we have in mind. But I need money for that. In Gladbach, we have a limted budget," Eberl said and added:

"Signing a player like Marcus Thuram takes a little while, because we're not prepared to pay any price. And the same goes for players that we still have in mind. At the moment, the wallet is too empty to get what we want. But we still have four weeks from Monday. And if it doesn't work out, we still have a very good squad."

At the age of just 20, Sarr has already made 99 appearances for OGC Nice.
