Report: Manuel Neuer to hold off contract talks until the summer

Manuel Neuer wants to stall on talks over a new deal with Bayern München until the summer.
Manuel Neuer wants to delay negotiations over a contract extension until the summer, according to Kicker.

Neuer, who is under contract until 2021, wants to wait and see who will be the club's head coach from the summer onwards before making a decision on his future, as per the report.

The 33-year-old is understood to be a big fan of Hansi Flick who will stay in charge until the end of the season at least.

Neuer is set to face increased competition at Bayern following the announcement that Alex Nübel will be joining the Bavarians from Schalke 04 in the summer.

Sport Bild recently claimed that Neuer has told the club bosses that he's adamant to play all games and that he isn't interested in sharing the playing time with the 23-year-old.

However, speaking at a press conference today, Neuer insisted that Nübel's arrival doesn't affect his thoughts about a potential contract extension.

"He's a top goalkeeper who could have a promising future ahead of him. But his arrival is irrelevant for my contract extension," Neuer said.
