Marvin Plattenhardt: I feel more confidence under Jürgen Klinsmann

Hertha BSC's Marvin Plattenhardt thrives under Jürgen Klinsmann.
Marvin Plattenhardt says he has felt more confidence since Jürgen Klinsmann took over as Hertha coach towards the end of November.

During the past year and half, Plattenhardt regularly found himself on the bench under Pal Dardai and Ante Covic, but the left-back has been given an important role by Klinsmann who has even appointed him captain of the club.

"I never had the feeling of not being needed. But I've felt more confidence since the change of coach. That's important for me. It's my sixth season in Berlin, I've been through a lot of here and never hid away when things didn't go so well for me, but always sought dialogue," Plattenhardt told Sport Bild.

The 27-year-old insists he never though about leaving Hertha despite going through a tough spell at the club.

"I never made the decision to talk to other clubs. So I never left, not even mentally. In fact, it was always about getting back into my best shape," the defender stressed.

Plattenhardt has made 10 appearances this season.
