Lothar Matthäus will be 'very surprised' if Bayern don't go through against Chelsea

Lothar Matthäus believes Bayern München are big favorites against Chelsea.
Lothar Matthäus is clearly expecting Bayern München to beat Chelsea and make it through to the Champions League quarter-finals.

"I'll be very surprised if Hansi Flick's team don't go through. In my opinion, Bayern are better in every department," Matthäus wrote in a column for Sky ahead of the first leg between the two sides on Tuesday and continued:

"The London side don't have a player who can decide games on his own, they lack important players like the really good defensive midfielder [N'Golo] Kanté while Kepa, the most expensive goalkeeper in the world, has fallen out of favor under [Chelsea manager] Frank Lampard. He often prefers 38-year-old Willy Caballero.

"Two concentrated and good performances from FC Bayern should be enough to make it into the quarter-finals," the former German international stated.

Chelsea and Bayern lock horns at at Stamford Bridge tonight at 21:00 CET.
