Could Robert Lewandowski be out for longer than four weeks?
Robert Lewandowski could be out for longer than initially expected, according to a sports physician.
Dr. Thorsten Dolla, a German sports physician, has suggested that Robert Lewandowski could be out for up to eight weeks.
The Polish international broke the tibia in his left knee joint during Bayern's 3-0 win over Chelsea earlier this week and has subsequently been ruled out for around four weeks by the club.
However, Dolla believes the 31-year-old might need longer than that to fully recover from the injury.
"It usually takes around six to eight weeks to heal a broken tibia completely," Dr. Thorsten Dolla told Bild.
Lewandowski would only be ready to make his return "if pain-free training is possible after four weeks with X-ray diagnostics," he added.
The Polish striker has netted 39 times in 33 games for Bayern this season.
