Markus Schubert expected to replace Alex Nübel in goal for Schalke against Bayern

Markus Schubert is expected to be given the chance against Bayern München.
Markus Schubert will probably replace Alex Nübel in goal for Schalke 04 against Bayern München in the DFB-Pokal on Tuesday, according to reports from Germany.

Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Schalke coach David Wagner wouldn't guarantee that Nübel will keep his place between the sticks after a couple of underwhelming performances lately.

"I don't want to bring up the subject today. I'll talk to both of them first," Wagner told reporters on Monday.

Nübel has faced heavy criticism following the announcement that he will be joining Bayern München at the end of the season and was booed by Schalke's own fans after he made a mistake in Saturday's 3-0 loss to FC Köln.

"It's more or less self-explanatory how he is doing," Wagner said, hinting that Nübel is going through a rough patch at the moment.

Schubert, who started four games for Schalke when Nübel was suspended earlier this season, recently made his return from injury.
