Hansi Flick: 'Manuel Neuer is by far the best goalkeeper in the world'

Bayern München will still have 'a clear hierarchy among the goalkeepers' when Alex Nübel arrives to offer competition for Manuel Neuer, says Hansi Flick, who believes the 33-year-old is the best keeper in the world.
Bayern München coach Hansi Flick has singled out Manuel Neuer as the best goalkeeper in the world.

"Everyone knows what I think about Manuel. For me, he's by far the best goalkeeper in the world. I don't have the slightest doubt about that. That's why there is no alternative for me. Manuel leads the team and gives it the necessary security," Flick told Sport Bild.

Alexander Nübel will be arriving from Schalke in the summer to compete with Neuer, but if Flick gets to stay on as Bayern coach, he has no doubt that he will keep faith in the 33-year-old as his first-choice goalkeeper.

"We have a clear hierarchy among the goalkeepers. It's going to be the same next year," Flick said.

According to reports, Bayern have opened talks with Neuer's representatives about extending his contract, which runs until 2021.
