Report: Meyer close to England move

Max Meyer is reportedly nearing a move to England.
Crystal Palace are in pole position to land Max Meyer who is available on a free transfer after leaving Schalke 04, The Guardian understands.

The London club have held 'productive talks' with the central midfielder who is due to have a medical today.

Meyer fell out with the Schalke bosses during the second half of last season after failing to agree a new contract with the club.

The midfielder was banished from training with the club's first-team squad at the end of April after he publicly criticised Schalke 04 sporting director Christian Heidel.

Meyer, 22, has also been linked with Arsenal, Liverpool, Hoffenheim and Marseille during the summer.
