'Die Roten Bullen' have announced that the striker will be out 'for the foreseeable future' after suffering ligament damage to his right ankle in Sunday's 5-0 victory over Mainz.
The Danish international has been in excellent form since the Bundesliga returned, racking up two goals and two assists in his last two games.
In total, he has scored five goals and made 13 assists in 31 appearances this season.
