Kai Havertz ruled out of Leverkusen's DFB-Pokal trip to Saarbrücken

Bayer Leverkusen coach Peter Bosz has given an injury update on Kai Havertz ahead of his side's DFB-Pokal game against Saarbrücken.
Kai Havertz has been ruled out of Bayer Leverkusen's DFB-Pokal semi-final against fourth-tier side Saarbrücken on Tuesday.

The 20-year-old was forced off with a knee injury in Leverkusen's 1-0 win over Freiburg on May 29.

He subsequently missed Saturday's 2-4 loss to Bayern München and isn't quite ready to make his return yet.

"For Kai Havertz, the game comes too early. He won't be there tomorrow. He could play, but we don't want to take any risks. We're hoping that he can play on Sunday," said Leverkusen coach Peter Bosz at the pre-match press conference.

Leverkusen face Saarbrücken away from home on Tuesday before taking on Schalke 04 on Sunday.
