Thiago to be out for weeks

Thiago Alcantara is set for a spell on the sidelines after undergoing surgery on a groin injury.
Bayern München will have to manage without Thiago Alcantara for the rest of the Bundesliga season.

"Thiago has had an operation on his groin, he will be out for three weeks," Bayern München coach Hansi Flick said ahead of Saturday's Bundesliga game against Borussia Mönchengladbach, as cited by the club.

Flick is now hoping that Thiago will be fit in time for Bayern's DFB-pokal clash against Bayer Leverkusen on July 4.

"We made the decision to do this now. It's possible he will be back for the cup final," he said.

Flick also provided an update on Serge Gnabry, who missed Wednesday's DFB-Pokal semi-final due to a back problem.

"Serge Gnabry was able to train today. It's looking quite good with him," he said.
