Leverkusen chief on Kai Havertz: 'I see his desire to take the next step'

Bayer Leverkusen boss Fernando Carro has commented on Kai Havertz's future.
Bayer Leverkusen CEO Fernando Carro says he's aware that Kai Havertz wants to take the next step in his career in the near future.

The 21-year-old, who is under contract until 2022, has been heavily linked with a summer move, but will only leave if it's possible to work out a deal that will satisfy, says Carro.

"Many clubs are interested in Kai Havertz. He has been with us for 10 years. I see his desire to take the next step at some point in the near future," Carro told the Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger.

This, he emphasized, should be respected as much as the fact that the 20-year-old has a contract in Leverkusen until 2022.

"You have to try to find a solution, where the player's goal can be reconciled with ours. At the moment, nobody can say for sure what will happen," the Leverkusen chief added.

According to reports, Leverkusen want at least €100 million for Havertz.
