Official: Lukas Kübler inks new Freiburg deal

Freiburg have extended the contract of Lukas Kübler.
Lukas Kübler has put pen to paper on a new contract with SC Freiburg, the club have announced.

As per usual, Freiburg haven't released details about the length of the new contract for the 27-year-old.

Kübler, who recently made his return from a serious knee injury, is delighted with the trust the club have put in him.

"The last year was difficult, which is why I'm very pleased with the trust the club has placed in me. I feel good and am back to full strength, which is something I'm looking to bring to the pitch again together with the team," he said in a statement.

Freiburg chairman Jochen Saier said:

"Lukas has been able to come back from two long-term injuries, which is a testament to his mental strength. Giving up is not something that he will do.

"When Lukas is fit, he helps bring stability to our backline through his affinity for entering into and winning challenges. As a result, we are looking forward to him remaining with us," he added.

The full-back has made a total of 53 appearances for Freiburg since his move from SV Sandhausen in 2015.
