Official: Kevin Kampl extends RB Leipzig deal

RB Leipzig have extended the contract of Kevin Kampl until 2023.
Kevin Kampl has signed a new contract with RB Leipzig, committing himself to the club until 2023.

"I'm very happy that I've extended my contract. My family and I feel incredibly comfortable here, and Leipzig has become like a second home to us," said Kampl in a statement.

"I'm looking forard to the coming period with great anticipation, because we still have a lot to do, and I would like to play my part as an experienced player in a young and very ambitious team," added the midfielder, whose former deal was due to expire in 2021.

RB Leipzig sporting director Markus Krösche said:

"Kevin is one of our leaders and a very important factor in the team - on and off the pitch. After his long injury break, he has shown in recent weeks how enormously important he is for our game and how much he embodies our philosophy.

"All the more, we are happy that we were able to extend Kevin's contract by two years, thus tying another top performer at RB Leipzig down to a long-term deal."

'Die Roten Bullen' paid €20 million to sign Kampl from Bayer Leverkusen in 2017. Since then, he has gone on to play 89 games for the club with six goals and 15 assists to his name.
