Lukas Hradecky: 'We're not as big underdogs as Eintracht were in 2018'

Lukas Hradecky was part of the Eintracht Frankfurt team that beat Bayern München in the DFB-Pokal final a few years ago. Now, he hopes to do the same with Leverkusen.
Back in 2018, Lukas Hradecky won the DFB-Pokal with Eintracht Frankfurt, helping 'Die Adler' to a 3-1 victory over Bayern München in the final.

On Saturday, the Finnish goalkeeper is set to face the Bavarians in the cup final again - only this time playing for Bayer Leverkusen.

And speaking ahead of the upcoming final, Hradecky says he feels Leverkusen have a bigger chance of getting a result than Frankfurt had a few years ago when they surprisingly managed to cause an upset for Bayern.

"Bayern are very impressive under Hansi Flick. You can tell that they're up for it and that they're mentally strong. We are underdogs, but not as big underdogs as Eintracht in 2018. I'll tell the boys that our victory over Bayern back then was much less likely than winning this time would be," Hradecky told Kicker.

"If you want to beat this Bayern team, you'll need a goalkeeper who can make a few saves. They will certainly create chances. Not only me, but everyone else must have a good day, too. That was the case when we won our last league game in Munich with Bayer 04 and when we won the cup final with Eintracht Frankfurt in 2018," he said.
